ROVERS IN SWOOP FOR JOE
FORMER Eastleigh captain Joe Partington says it came as a shock when Bristol Rovers decided to sign him for an undisclosed fee.
The National League side received a club-record fee for the 26-year-old defender, who is a former Wales Under-21 international.
Partington joined the Spitfires, initially on loan, from Bournemouth in January 2015, and Rovers have activated a release clause in his Eastleigh contract to trigger the move.
“I didn’t really anticipate this was going to happen, but now that it has I’m really pleased about it and can’t wait to get going,” he said.
“It’s a massive opportunity for me to play at a level where I believe I can play. Hopefully I can contribute in some way.”
