GROGAN ENJOYS TOUGH BAPTISM

The Football League Paper - - LEAGUE TWO RESULTS - By Matt Badcock

CALLUM GROGAN has thanked Radcliffe Borough for giving him the confidence to return to parent club Shrewsbury Town and push for the first team.

The 19-year-old defender has been on loan at the EvoStik Division One North club from the Shrews.

He says the spell in NonLeague will pay off.

“I want to fight for my place at Shrewsbury and show what I’m capable of,” Grogan told The FLP.

“I played a good amount of games. It was tough at first, but it’s a good group of lads with a good manager and good experience.

“It showed me how much of a step-up men’s football is. Even though it’s not League One level, it’s still a big step-up when you’re playing week in, week out. It’s a battle, and I really enjoyed it. You play against some big, tough lads but I think I held my own.”

Micky Mellon, now Tranmere boss, was in charge when Grogan went on loan. Now he’s hoping to impress new boss Paul Hurst.
