The Football League Paper - - CHAMPIONSHIP - By Andrew Lawton

SIGNING a new three-year contract at Wolves is all thanks to the players and staff at Sheffield United, according to on-loan defender Ethan Ebanks Landell.

The 24-year-old is on a season-long loan at the Blades, with his parent club not taking up the option to recall him this month.

The defender is delighted to be staying at Bramall Lane and admits that, without the opportunities afforded to him, he doesn’t think he would have earned his new deal.

“I’m buzzing, I’ve always said, since I came, that I wanted to be here for the full season. Obviously it’s possible to stay for the full season now, so I couldn’t be happier,” said Ebanks-Landell.

“The worst thing that could happen for me and my career is to go back to Wolves and not play under any circumstances.

“I’ve thanked Sheffield United loads. I could have been sat at Wolves not playing and I wouldn’t have had another contract.

“In my head, I don’t think I would have got one because I wouldn’t have deserved one.

“I’ve come here. The boys have helped me do well and the coaching staff have helped me improve as well, so Wolves deemed I deserved a new contract.”
