NEW sign­ing Ian Lawlor is con­fi­dent Don­caster are a club go­ing places – and not just be­cause they are fight­ing it out at the top of the divi­sion.

The 22-year-old goal­keeper, who spent time on loan at Bar­net and Bury, signed for Rovers this week from Manch­ester City un­til the sum­mer of 2019.

And, af­ter see­ing the club’s long-term plans, Lawlor is con­fi­dent Donny can go from strength to strength.

“I’m look­ing for­ward to pro­gress­ing and get­ting in­volved with the lads,” he said. “I spoke with the man­ager and saw the am­bi­tion of the club. It’s some­thing I want to be a part of.

“The sta­dium is fan­tas­tic for a League Two club, but the project go­ing for­ward is re­ally spe­cial.”

Lawlor will com­pete with Ross Etheridge, 22, for a start­ing spot as Marko Marosi, 23, is ruled out for the next three months.

“It’s nice to feel they want me on a per­ma­nent ba­sis,” he added. “I’m hop­ing to get in and play, but the aim is pro­mo­tion.”
