TOMLIN DENIES BUST-UP STORIES

The Football League Paper - - INSIDE: - By Luke Baker

RUMOURS have been swirling of a bust-up between Bristol City forward Lee Tomlin and manager Lee Johnson – but the player is adamant that’s not the case.

Before this weekend, Tomlin had been used as a substitute for the Robins’ last two Championship games, prompting whispers of a falling out.

Those matches were part of a club record eight consecutive league defeats, while the 28-year-old has not scored in the Championship since early December.

The former Middlesbrough and Bournemouth man has struggled to recapture the form he showed during a loan spell at Ashton Gate last term, but he laughed off suggestions that he and Johnson don’t see eye to eye.

“I don’t know where people get it from. Me and the gaffer sort of laughed at it,” said Tomlin.

“There is nothing going on. Niggles in training have kept me out of the team.

“I’ve been ill. I’m in a bad way at the moment. For me personally, from the first month or two of the season, my standards have been nowhere near (what I expect).

“I’ve not been buzzing as much as I should be. I take full responsibility for that. I’m desperate to get back to where I was last season, when I loved everything.”

LAUGH: Lee Tomlin
