THERE was plenty of huff and puff, but lit­tle of the craft, guile and qual­ity that sets au­to­matic pro­mo­tion hope­fuls apart.

Bolton might have been ex­pect­ing a rou­tine vic­tory, find­ing them­selves in third go­ing into a con­test against a Charl­ton team lan­guish­ing in mid-ta­ble.

But it was the Ad­dicks who sum­moned the mix of fight and qual­ity we as­so­ciate with pro­mo­tion chasers.

Af­ter re­duc­ing the gap to a play-off spot to just six points, boss Karl Robin­son has de­liv­ered the swift im­pact the Ad­dicks were look­ing for.

And with new sign­ings Nathan Byrne and Jake Forster-Caskey mak­ing an im­me­di­ate im­pact, on this ev­i­dence Ad­dicks fans have ev­ery rea­son to be hope­ful Jan­uary can be a turn­ing point for their team.
