JOHN IS REALLY MAKING HIS MARQ
DONCASTER Rovers striker John Marquis has set his sights on 30 goals this season, having reached 20 in midweek.
Marquis, 24, left his boyhood club Milwall last summer and has been a revelation at the Keepmoat Stadium, joining a select group of Rovers who have netted 20 times in a campaign.
He made it 20 by netting what turned out to be the winner from the penalty spot in the 3-2 victory at Cambridge United last Tuesday.
Marquis, whose previous best goal tally was ten, believes that reaching 30 will aid his side’s promotion bid.
“I’m not going to get too carried away and too far ahead of myself,” he said.
“But I’d say if I did get to 30 goals there’d be a good chance I’ll have a winner’s medal around my neck.
“Hopefully we can keep on scoring, myself and the team.
“It was just a new challenge for me to move up here and hopefully do enough to break into the team, score goals and put in the performances to keep me in the team.”
