ON-FIRE O’TOOLE SALUTES JUSTIN
IT WAS only a slight change of position, but Northampton Town star John-Joe O’Toole insists a more attacking role has made all the difference in the last few weeks.
The 28-year-old had scored just five goals up to February, but then a run of seven goals in seven games followed for the talented midfielder.
O’Toole’s run has coincided with an upturn in form for the Cobblers, who had won three of their previous six matches prior to yesterday’s clash with AFC Wimbledon.
And the midfielder says it is down to manager Justin Edinburgh.
“When he came in, within a couple of games he called me in and asked me what my favourite position would be, or how I wanted to go about things,” explained O’Toole.
“I said to him that I had been playing a little bit deeper and I would rather be pushing on and trying to score goals.
“Since then, I have done allright goalscoring wise, so a lot of credit would have to go to the manager for that, but I think there has been a change in everything. It has been a lot different and has benefited me so hopefully I can score a few more.”
