The Football League Paper - - CHAMPIONSHIP - By Ben Baker

NATHAN Jones insists everything at Luton is in place to become a Championship club sooner rather than later.

Former defender Jones, 43, has been in the Hatters hotseat for just over a year and has improved last season’s mid-table finish as Luton headed into the weekend in fifth.

But, as fans get excited at the prospect of being promoted to League One, Jones is dreaming even bigger.

“The football club has come a long way and gone from strength to strength,” Jones said.

“I said a year ago I was full of optimism on where we were going and what we were going to do, and I think we’re not far off. We have a hungry group, a mixture of experienced and hungry young, talented players who will be playing for this club for years to come.

“They will be the nucleus of the club for the next five years. If we reach the Championship, these boys will still be there.

“Whatever else you do, the environment is the most important thing, and we’re a top Championship club in terms of what we do – the way we train, how we look after our players.

“The infrastructure is in place.”
