AWARD CURSE CANNOT SAVE HATTERS

The Football League Paper - - LEAGUE TWO -

AS FAR as statements go, this was an absolutely massive one from Stevenage, as they went to one of their main rivals for promotion and left, deservedly, with the win.

Despite claiming the manager of the month award in the week, there was little chance of the curse coming to haunt Boro chief Darren Sarll.

Once Luke Wilkinson had put the visitors in front early on, Luton struggled to really look like they were going to find a way back into the game, until late on when visiting keeper Chris Day played a blinder.

With Boro keeping their opponents at arm’s length for most of the second period, they then broke with devastating accuracy to seal the points through Ben Kennedy’s wonderful strike.

It had Sarll dreaming of going up without the need for the play-offs, although Luton boss Nathan Jones was left questioning his players’ desire for the promotion run-in ahead of a crunch trip to Carlisle on Tuesday night.
