Greavsie stitched me up – Tom

The Football League Paper - - FINAL THIRD -

FORMER Millwall defender Tommy Wilson doesn’t want any of his old team’s players to fall victim to the same trick he suffered against Tottenham 50 years ago. The Lions earned an FA Cup third-round replay half a century ago and all was going well until Wilson’s horror moment. “Even though Spurs had more of the game in the replay, we were holding our own until I made a mistake,” Wilson told the Millwall matchday programme. “I was the victim of a wily old pro in Jimmy Greaves, who called for the ball as I controlled it. “Without looking up, I passed it square and Jim shot against the bar for Alan Gilzean to score the winner from the rebound. It was a hard-fought game – they both were – but played in a good spirit. I’m sure Jimmy, below, had a laugh at my expense afterwards. “It only needs some fool – like me – to make a mistake at a crucial time and it can turn the game.”
