SHARP BY NAME AS BILLY ADDS A DOUBLE
BILLY Sharp took his tally for the season to 26 goals as Sheffield United raced eight points clear at the top with a 3-2 win at Oxford. The U’s led 1-0 at the break through Chey Dunkley, but the Blades roared back as captain Sharp struck twice, one from the spot, and Kieron Freeman once before sub Toni Martinez pulled a goal back at the death. Third-placed Scunthorpe’s poor recent run continued as they were beaten 2-1 at Charlton. Skipper Johnnie Jackson gave Charlton the lead, but the Iron looked to have earned a point when Kevin van Veen struck in the 75th minute. However, Tony Watt scored a last-minute penalty winner to earn the Addicks maximum points. Walsall closed to within six points of the play-off places with a 1-0 victory against relegation-threatened Chesterfield, Scott Laird bagging a second half winner.
