The Football League Paper - - CHRIS DUNLAVY - By Luke Baker

CONTRACT talks between Barnsley and Josh Scowen are yet to be completed, but the midfielder insists he’s very happy to remain at the club.

Scowen started his career at Wycombe Wanderers before joining Barnsley in January 2015 and helped his new club win promotion with a playoff final win over Millwall last term.

Barnsley have continued their strong form in the Championship this year and the 23-year-old admits he’s happy to play wherever boss Paul Heckingbottom wants him to.

“Talks are ongoing. I am a Barnsley player right now and I will continue to give 100 per cent every game and then we’ll see what happens in the summer,” Scowen said.

“Of course I have enjoyed my time here. Last year was incredible and this year has been amazing. I am happy here and, if the deal can be struck, that’s great.

“Everyone knows me, I’ll play anywhere.

“I played wide right earlier in the season and did quite well, but at QPR I don’t feel it worked out quite as well. Overall, though, I’m happy with the way I’ve been performing.

“My position is centre midfield. That’s where I want to be playing and feel I can play my best football, but if the gaffer picks me to play somewhere else I won’t moan.

“I’ll just do it the best I can.”
