ROWETT SHOWS OFF HIS TACTICAL NOUS
AN EAST Midlands derby is perhaps not the best game to take charge of either club for the first time, but it will have taught the respective managers plenty.
Forest started brightly and finished well, but showed why they are fighting relegation with their lacklustre start to the second half. Derby were the exact opposite, starting sluggishly but growing into the game – Rowett’s tactical switch at half-time an early feather in the new manager’s cap.
With some better game management they would have won the game – and Rowett was furious on the touchline when the Rams paid for passing up a chance to run the clock down.
Forest punished them for it, and Warburton’s reign starts with a point which could prove vital in the long run as they bid to climb the table.
There are lessons to be learned, and a new style of play being taught, but the late boost can only give the Reds confidence in their relegation fight in the coming weeks.
