OXFORD EYES ON FUTURE
THIS season is far from over, but Oxford United boss Michael Appleton is already plotting an assault on the title next year.
The U’s are sufficiently clear of the bottom four and, though they can still reach the play-offs, it is likely they will remain in League One – leading Appleton to plan for the future.
“Most of the players I bring into the side will be to compete in the Championship,” he said.
“I think we need a few experienced players who’ve been very good at this level to help them and get them to where they want to be. Then we replace them. That’s how football works.”
