GET OFF ARSENE’S BACK – HE WILL RAISE HIS GAME
ARSENE Wenger has taken a lot of stick recently, but I just cannot get away from some simple facts:
1. He has led Arsenal to consistent enough results to have qualified 20 consecutive times for the Champions League.
2. He has overseen a massive transition from Highbury to the Emirates during which time the club had huge construction bills to pay and wasn’t flush with cash.
3. He has operated against competitors with almost limitless pockets; Man City, Chelsea and Manchester United are big, big players.
To his doubters I say get off his back and watch him raise his game in the next two years.
He is a very experienced man with a great track record. His past is strong enough to suggest that he is more than capable of re-inventing success at Arsenal. It isn’t right for him to leave on a low. Their two equalisers last weekend against Man City suggest to me that he is fighting. That his team are. And that Arsenal are getting ready to mount a challenge in 2017/18. I reckon they’ll be very dangerous.
