GARY’S SO KEEN TO KEEP CHRIS
DERBY manager Gary Rowett says he’s keen to keep Chris Baird at the club next season.
The 35-year-old has played a key role in Rowett’s tenure, for his versatility at either full-back or centre-back.
Baird’s current contract expires this summer and the Rams have an option to extend it by 12 months – an option the manager is keen to take.
“I have had a conversation with him and my opinion is we should activate the clause,” Rowett said. “He is exactly the type of player we want around in the group.
“He has shown that not only is he very versatile, he is also trustworthy in the way he plays the game.”
