GOLDSON BONUS FEE RULED OUT
SHREWSBURY have missed out on a bonus payment for Connor Goldson after the defender was unable to play in enough games during Brighton’s promotion to the Premier League.
Had Goldson turned out in half the Seagulls’ matches, Shrewsbury would have received a bonus as part of the transfer that took him to the south coast two years ago.
The 24-year old made just five league appearances before an issue with his heart was identified in early February.
He has since had surgery for it.
Shrewsbury chief executive Brian Caldwell said: “Unfortunately for us, the way Connor’s deal was worded was that he had to play a certain number of games in the season of their promotion.”
