NEWPORT ‘SHIELDED BY LEASE’
CHAIRMAN of operations Gavin Foxall is confident Newport County will remain at Rodney Parade – should they avoid relegation to the National League.
Newport Gwent Dragons, who are also tenants, are the subject of a takeover bid from the Welsh Rugby Union but County have a lease, which lasts until 2023, and priority on fixtures while they remain in the EFL.
“Our view is quite clear – we’ve got a contract,” said Foxall. “That is something we’re expecting to be honoured.
“Obviously, there is a vote by the shareholders of Newport Rugby and we’ll wait to see what happens.”
