Best mate at the club? As goalkeepers we largely stick together, but I was at Bradford last season with Greg Leigh. I have known him longer than any of the lads here. I was at Crewe with Tom Pope, too, and it is always a big help when you know some of the guys. Last to pay for dinner? We have an excellent fines scheme and there are quite a few lads who are supposed to contribute often – but it does not mean they do. Tom Pope is in charge and I know he has great difficulty getting money out of Leon Barnett. We have fines for people who get nutmegged and people who put the ball over the fence. Worst dressed? It’s a harsh vote and it’s probably to do with the fact that he has young kids, so he is up early. He travels to training and wants to be comfortable, but Tom Pope. Let’s put it down as leisure wear, not smartcasual. He loves a tracksuit and beanie hats! That is his favourite and it’s not good. There is also Jacob Mellis, who has a lovely pair of beige ripped jeans… Dressing room DJ? Lately, we have had a mixture. Our fitness coach, Jamie Hesketh, does a bit, but Jermaine Pennant has been bringing in his mixtapes. He does a little bit of house. There are not so many golden oldies, though he is one of the older ones now. Jamie throws in the odd mix-tape but Jermaine has got it for now – it’s easy listening. Sometimes a little bit of Bob Marley – and Tom Pope does a lovely rendition. Late for training? We are all very good, though we do have some experts at getting in just one minute before the deadline. Greg Leigh lives three minutes away and we have to be in for 10am most days. So, he leaves at 9.56! Teacher’s pet? That’ll be Ryan Lowe, who is in a player-coach role. Some days he is in the training squad and others in a different kit. He is probably the closest one, as well as Antony Kay, who is the captain. First on the dance floor? In terms of not being afraid to show a few moves, I would have to go for Jermaine Pennant. He likes a laugh in the dressing room and puts on a bit of a show for the boys. He is probably the jester! Most likely to disgrace himself at the Christmas party? We went up to Leeds for the weekend last year. It is hard now because so many players travel and, when you have a few days off, some like to go home. It was a good weekend and I think Tom Pope is the one I’d look out for. He is never shy if there is any trouble! Worst tattoo? Antony Kay has a weird Indian chief on his chest. Need I say more? Who will be the best manager? Ryan Lowe is the obvious one – and he will be good – but I am going for Antony Kay and Tom Pope. They would be great – they have a good understanding of the game.
