JUSTIN NIPS IN TO SIGN POWELL
NORTHAMPTON Town have signed winger Daniel Powell after he was released by MK Dons.
Powell, 26, joins the League One side having come through the Dons academy and racking up 270 appearances for the club.
In that time, the wideman scored 46 goals and helped win promotion to the Championship in 2015 but then endured relegation last season.
Northampton manager Justin Edinburgh said: “Despite only being in his mid-20s, he has a wealth of experience in League One and the Championship and he provides qualities I feel we need more of in the squad.
“He offers pace and width, he is direct and he is a threat to defenders.
“He is the sort of player who keeps supporters on the edge of their seats and I think he is a very good signing for us.”
Powell is Edinburgh’s first summer signing and the Luton-born winger said he turned down other interested clubs to sign for Northampton.
“I had quite a few offers, I needed to freshen up somewhere, have a new goal, new aims, and I think Northampton fits that,” he said.
Powell joins on a twoyear contract.
