LUKE IS LOOKING TO KEEP OUT LOEKE
LUKE McCormick is expecting a tough battle to keep his No 1 jersey at Plymouth following the signing of Robbert te Loeke.
The 33-year-old Englishman played every match in League Two last season but the addition of Dutchman te Loeke will provide stiff competition for the Pilgrims stalwart.
Te Loeke has played for Dutch second division sides Cambuur, Dordrecht and Achilles ‘29 before making the switch to the South West this summer and has been given a reasonable amount of game-time pre-season.
McCormick, though, is relishing the challenge he will face from the Dutchman.
He said: “First and foremost, he’s a cracking lad. We struck it off from day one really. I have tried to help him settle in, and he has done that really well.
“In terms of the football, I think Robbert brings serious competition.
“He has sacrificed a lot to come over to this country and try to make a name for himself over here. It means a lot to him and he’s not going to roll over and let anything go.
“I have enjoyed working with him up to this point, and I look forward to that continuing throughout the course of the season.”
