Murray starts gig on a level playing field

The Football League Paper - - LEAGUE TWO -

NEW Channel 5 football frontman Colin Murray has insisted he won’t show any bias when he hosts their EFL highlights coverage – because he doesn’t support any of the teams!

In the last couple of seasons, George Riley has teamed up with, first, Kelly Cates, and then Lynsey Hipgrave to host the highlights package from Championship to League Two.

But now Liverpool fan Murray has taken the reins.

“I have a soft spot for a few EFL teams, but I don’t support any so there are no conflicts of interest!” he said.

“However, I do make sure I visit a few EFL and Non-League grounds every season, because the experiences are so varied and different, plus the connection to the fans is often more special.

“I’m as excited to front a show that brings you the goals from The New Lawn (Forest Green) as I am from Villa Park.’’

Renowned for his entertaining and opinionated style, Murray brings a wealth of experience from the sporting world, having presented for a decade on BBC Sport, talkSPORT and BBC 5 Live.

He will present highlights from across the EFL’s three divisions, as well as the Carabao Cup and Checkatrade Trophy Final.

“These clubs are the lifeblood of English football,” he said.
