EVANS HAS THE TOOLS TO BACK UP HIS TALK

The Football League Paper - - LEAGUE TWO -

TYPICAL Steve Evans to pick a fight even with an opponent several weight classes above him – his team’s performance was also a chip off the wily manager’s block.

Jurgen Klopp may well know very little about Mansfield Town’s style of play but Evans nonetheless opted to declare himself a more seasoned practitioner of all-action football than the exuberant Liverpool manager.

The Stags are among the promotion favourites largely because of Evans’ almost unblemished record in the lower leagues and they hinted here that confidence may be justified.

For 20 minutes in the second half of their second League Two assignment of the season, they blew away inferior opposition with a relentless high-tempo bombardment.

They will, however, have more difficult tasks than against a Forest Green side lacking any kind of penetration.

Mark Cooper’s men never got near to making a mark in their trip to Field Mill.
