Born: Chesham, Bucks, 1985 (Age 32) An artistic gymnast as a teenager, Eames won medals at the British Championships before turning his back on the sport aged 21. He then took a degree in sports science and coaching at Leeds Met University before working in community and academy roles at Leeds United. Managerial career: In 2009, Eames joined Barnet as a performance analyst. During this time, he played part-time for Amersham Town and Chesham United, where he also managed the reserves. Promoted to lead youth development coach at Barnet in 2010, Eames spent four years overseeing the academy’s U12 to U16s before stepping up to manage the U18s. In 2015, he was given responsibility for the Under-21s and some first-team duties under Martin Allen, before being named interim manager, alongside Henry Newman, in December 2016. Eames won five of his 12 games but was demoted in favour of Kevin Nugent. When Nugent was sacked in April, Eames returned and took six points from four games to lift lingering relegation fears. He was handed the job permanently in July.
