The Football League Paper - - LEAGUE TWO RESULTS -

A COUPLE of players have caught my eye this season from very different ends of the football pyramid. I really like the look of Barrie McKay at Forest. Signed from Rangers for £500,000 in the summer, he’s a midfielder who likes to come in off the left side. He’s got great feet, he can go past people. He actually reminds of John Robertson, the great Forest player whose boots I cleaned as an apprentice. Lower down, I’ve watched my old side Halifax and winger Matty Kosylo looks a terrific talent. He started at Crewe and knocked around the lower leagues. At 25, he’s not a kid any more. But people mature at different times – just look at Jamie Vardy – and there’s no doubt he’s got great ability. The National League is a good, professional standard which, for me, should be the EFL’s fourth division. It would take away the stigma of being relegated and encourage more clubs to take a punt on Non-League players. Alas, it would mean the EFL putting money into it so I don’t think it’ll ever happen!

TALENT: Barrie McKay
