HUMBLED TO BE A NOMINEE

The Football League Paper - - JEFF STELLING -

MY LEGS have recovered from walking 15 marathons in 15 days in the summer for Prostate Cancer UK. The March for Men started out at St James Park in Exeter and finished at St James’ Park in Newcastle, stopping at some wonderful clubs from all levels along the way – even Darlington! The trek has led to me being nominated for Celebrity Fundraiser of the Year in the Justgiving Awards. Hand on heart, it’s nice to be nominated, but it really doesn’t matter if you win it or not. That was not why we set off to do what we did. What matters is all the guys who got involved made an effort to do something to benefit other people. That’s a reward in itself. It was a team effort. Yes, I walked the thing but by far the main part of fund-raising was done by all the walkers. I was just the front man. So many people put in so much work, from the charity itself through to the people who are affected by prostate cancer.
