The Football League Paper - - LEAGUE TWO -

KEVIN NOLAN has come up with an answer for most of Notts County’s woes since he took over at Meadow Lane, but not their Mansfield hoodoo.

The Magpies have triumphed here only once since Sam Allardyce’s side of 1998 and they rarely looked like doing so against a determined home side. Mansfield hurried and scurried Notts out of their stride well before the 16-minute spell that sent their side into raptures.

It was disappointing to hear Nolan blame the fixture computer for County’s bad day – Mansfield and their wily boss Steve Evans had more to do with it.

Evans insists fans have yet to see the best of his recently-compiled side, and if that’s true they may cause Notts a few more headaches by the end of the season.

A word for the fans and their immaculate marking of a minute’s applause in memory of former Stags physiotherapist Matt Salmon. That was a nice touch on what is traditionally a highly charged occasion.
