SPEARING SIGNING DELIGHTS BOWYER
JAY Spearing has played at the highest level of the game – and Blackpool boss Gary Bowyer is convinced that experience will make him an instant success at Bloomfield Road.
Spearing left Bolton – where he made 173 appearances in a four-year spell – after winning promotion last season but has now joined the Tangerines as a free agent.
The 28-year-old defensive midfielder began his career with Liverpool, even playing in the Champions League for the Reds, and previously worked under Bowyer in a loan spell at Blackburn.
He has been training with Blackpool and Bowyer was excited to finally seal the deal.
“It’s no secret that Jay has been training with us for a few weeks now and I’m delighted that we’ve been able to get a deal done,” said Bowyer.
“He’s someone I know well from my days at Blackburn and he will be a great addition for us.
“He’s played in the Premier League, Championship and had success in this division with Bolton Wanderers last season.
“That experience and quality will prove invaluable.”
