HIGH-FLYERS Notts County have a target on their backs according to Terry Hawkridge but the Magpies winger is confident his team are strong enough to cope.

Kevin Nolan’s side came into this weekend sitting top of the pile in League Two – but they have been there before already this season and failed to stay there.

But Hawkridge, a key cog in Lincoln’s promotion to the EFL last season, is adamant his new side are up to the challenge.

“We just have to be smart,” said the 27-yearold. “We know teams are going to want to beat us just because we are at the top of the league.

“It’s all about being professional in your job and taking each game as it comes.

“We have to do our own thing and be strong.

“I have been there with Lincoln and we dealt with it really well.

“The manager there (Danny Cowley) told us we were only as good as our last game and I just think the squad here is going to have a major part to play.

“You need to be able to rotate and we’ve got that.

“We’ve had players coming off the bench scoring winners and I think the squad is big enough to do the job.”
