Born: Haver­ing, 1978 (Danny) & 1981 (Nicky) Play­ing ca­reer: Tal­ented ju­nior play­ers, nei­ther brother made the grade at pro­fes­sional level. Af­ter qual­i­fy­ing as teach­ers, they worked in school while play­ing part-time in Non-League. Mid­fielder Danny played for Har­low, Bore­ham Wood and Hornchurch be­fore injury ended his ca­reer in 2007. Nicky, a striker, spent the bulk of his ca­reer at Con­cord Rangers, mak­ing 268 ap­pear­ances and win­ning pro­mo­tion from the Es­sex Se­nior League to Na­tional League South. Man­age­rial ca­reer: Ap­pointed Con­cord man­ager in 2007, Danny was the ar­chi­tect of those three pro­mo­tions, ini­tially with joint-boss Danny Scopes. Nicky joined the coach­ing staff in 2012 and has been his as­sis­tant since 2014. The duo joined Na­tional League Brain­tree in 2015 and led the Iron to the high­est fin­ish in their his­tory (third) be­fore los­ing to Grimsby in the play-off semi-fi­nals. Head-hunted by Lin­coln City in the sum­mer of 2016, the Cow­leys moved to Sin­cil Bank and won the Na­tional League ti­tle in their first sea­son, end­ing the Imps’ six-year ab­sence from the EFL. They also reached the quar­ter-fi­nals of the FA Cup, knock­ing out Premier League Burn­ley be­fore los­ing 5-0 to even­tual win­ners Arse­nal at the Emi­rates.
