STANLEY’S JOHN­SON KEEN TO CHIP IN

GET­TING on the score­sheet is some­thing Cal­lum John­son is de­ter­mined to add to his game af­ter fail­ing to bag a goal so far this sea­son for Ac­cring­ton.

The Mid­dles­brough loa­nee has started the last five league matches and is look­ing for­ward to break­ing his goalscor­ing duck.

He said: “I know I need to chip in with goals as we need them from all over.”

The 21-year-old mid­fielder has loved his time at Ac­cring­ton but ad­mits it took a while to adapt to the phys­i­cal­ity of League Two.

He said: “I have en­joyed it from the first day I came here. This is men’s football.

“It’s more phys­i­cal and there is the pres­sure of games where re­sults mat­ter. It’s all about win­ning.

“I hate los­ing any­way, but it’s all about my own progress and help­ing the team make progress.

“When I first came, it was frus­trat­ing as I wasn’t get­ting into the side.

“B ut I un­der­stand that’s football.

“I had to work ex­tra hard to im­press in train­ing and take my chance when it came.”
