GARY Rowett has revealed that summer signing Sam Clucas is closing in on his Stoke City debut.

The versatile midfielder, 28, joined the Potters from Swansea City during the summer, but has been forced to wait to make his bow for the club due to a long-standing knee injury.

“We all knew the situation when we took him in the summer, but of course we hoped that he would be fit and available before now.

“He is a really good player and somebody who will enhance us in my opinion, he has the ability to glide across the field, he has a very good left foot and he has good physicality about him too.”

He added: “The thing with Sam is we don’t want to compromise him by bringing him back and then causing any unnecessary issues. He is desperate to get back out there and we are eager to
