A man who strug­gled with two cops in Dum­fries has been fined £800 at the town’s sher­iff court.

Charles Gal­lagher, 32, of Gate­side Cot­tage, Lochfoot, pleaded guilty to at­tempt­ing to punch the of­fi­cers on the head as they tried to re­strain him on Au­gust 20.

The court was told that it hap­pened in the town cen­tre shortly after 3 am when the po­lice went to speak to him and he adopted a fight­ing stance.

A man al­leged to have taken med­i­ca­tion and pos­ses­sion of a knife and threat­ened to self-harm him­self, is to face trial at Dum­fries Sher­iff Court.

Robert Milligan, 35, from Pre­ston, pleaded not guilty to be­hav­ing in a threat­en­ing or abu­sive man­ner at Lon­gacres Road in Kirkcud­bright shout­ing and act­ing in an ag­gres­sive man­ner to­wards his part­ner. Trial has been set for Jan­uary.

A ben­e­fits cheat who ob­tained £6,505 by fail­ing to promptly no­tify the Depart­ment for Work and Pen­sions that a med­i­cal con­di­tion had im­proved, has had her sen­tence in court de­ferred for back­ground re­ports.

Linda Thomson, 47, of David Road, Dal­beat­tie, pleaded guilty to com­mit­ting the of­fence and ob­tain­ing dis­abil­ity liv­ing al­lowance at Main Street at Twyn­holm, be­tween Au­gust, 2013, and March, 2015.

The sher­iff court case was con­tin­ued to Septem­ber 20.

A teenager ac­cused of be­ing in pos­ses­sion of a kitchen knife in Dal­beat­tie, is to face trial at Dum­fries Sher­iff Court.

Mor­gan Dal­gliesh, 18, of Port Street, Dal­beat­tie, pleaded not guilty to hav­ing the knife in nearby Burn Street in Fe­bru­ary. Trial was set for Jan­uary.

A 43-year-old man has been charged with send­ing a photo of a sex­ual im­age to a 17-year-old woman. Kevin Cur­rie, of Sta­bles Cot­tage, Erne­spie Road, Cas­tle Dou­glas, pleaded not guilty at Dum­fries Sher­iff Court to com­mit­ting the of­fence in Fe­bru­ary. Trial was set for Novem­ber.

A 44-year-old man has been ac­cused in court of steal­ing a quan­tity of money and a bot­tle con­tain­ing methadone in Kirkcud­bright.

An­drew McCormick, of Maxwell Wynd, Kirkcud­bright, pleaded not guilty to com­mit­ting the of­fence at nearby John­ston Place in April.

Trial at Dum­fries Sher­iff Court was set for De­cem­ber.

Three men are to face trial on a charge of be­ing in pos­ses­sion of a mo­bile phone, sim card and charger while in­side the prison at Dum­fries.

An­thony Pat­ter­son, 39, of Queens­berry Street, Dum­fries; An­drew Goldie, 34, whose ad­dress was given as the prison; and Stu­art McNeil­lie, also 34, of McKie Av­enue, Dum­fries, all pleaded not guilty to com­mit­ting the of­fence in March. Trial at Dum­fries Sher­iff Court was set for Novem­ber.

A man has been ac­cused in court of breach­ing a bail con­di­tion not to con­tact another man and woman by laugh­ing and mak­ing ges­tures at them.

Mark Slee, aged 47, of Burntscarth­green, Dum­fries, pleaded not guilty to breach­ing the or­der at Whitelaw Av­enue in Cas­tle Dou­glas on Au­gust 23.

Trial at the sher­iff court was set for De­cem­ber.
