Tried to hit cops
A man who struggled with two cops in Dumfries has been fined £800 at the town’s sheriff court.
Charles Gallagher, 32, of Gateside Cottage, Lochfoot, pleaded guilty to attempting to punch the officers on the head as they tried to restrain him on August 20.
The court was told that it happened in the town centre shortly after 3 am when the police went to speak to him and he adopted a fighting stance.
A man alleged to have taken medication and possession of a knife and threatened to self-harm himself, is to face trial at Dumfries Sheriff Court.
Robert Milligan, 35, from Preston, pleaded not guilty to behaving in a threatening or abusive manner at Longacres Road in Kirkcudbright shouting and acting in an aggressive manner towards his partner. Trial has been set for January.

A 43-year-old man has been charged with sending a photo of a sexual image to a 17-year-old woman. Kevin Currie, of Stables Cottage, Ernespie Road, Castle Douglas, pleaded not guilty at Dumfries Sheriff Court to committing the offence in February. Trial was set for November.
A 44-year-old man has been accused in court of stealing a quantity of money and a bottle containing methadone in Kirkcudbright.
Andrew McCormick, of Maxwell Wynd, Kirkcudbright, pleaded not guilty to committing the offence at nearby Johnston Place in April.
Trial at Dumfries Sheriff Court was set for December.
Three men are to face trial on a charge of being in possession of a mobile phone, sim card and charger while inside the prison at Dumfries.
Anthony Patterson, 39, of Queensberry Street, Dumfries; Andrew Goldie, 34, whose address was given as the prison; and Stuart McNeillie, also 34, of McKie Avenue, Dumfries, all pleaded not guilty to committing the offence in March. Trial at Dumfries Sheriff Court was set for November.
A man has been accused in court of breaching a bail condition not to contact another man and woman by laughing and making gestures at them.
Mark Slee, aged 47, of Burntscarthgreen, Dumfries, pleaded not guilty to breaching the order at Whitelaw Avenue in Castle Douglas on August 23.
Trial at the sheriff court was set for December.
