Birkland Park deal
Threave Rovers are a step closer to being handed the running of a Castle Douglas football pitch.
The club has been given the go-ahead by Stewartry Area Committee to lease Birkland Park for 25 years.
The matter will now have to go to the council’s policy committee on September 14 for final approval.
Threave plan to upgrade the pitch and provide changing and storage facilities as well as a car park.
The project will cost £ 21,600. Castle Douglas Common Good Fund will meet tomorrow to consider whether or not to allocate £10,000 to the project for the cost of a fence.
