In ideal con­di­tions on Satur­day, Ste­wartry bat­tled BTWest One league lead­ers Allan Glens to their tight­est win this sea­son, the Blacks al­most snatch­ing vic­tory in the last minute.

On Sun­day it was the Ste­wartry Sirens’turn against Cartha Queens Park women to battle through a down­pour and very windy con­di­tions on a pitch that turned into a mud bath by the end of play.

Both the women’s teams gave their all with Sirens only con­firm­ing the 10-0 win with a last minute try for Sharon Ni­col­son to add to the one Claire Doo­ley had scored early in the sec­ond half to keep the Sirens sec­ond to Hill­head Jor­dan­hill who beat Stir­ling County to stay six points ahead.

BT Na­tional Divi­sionTwo: Dum­fries Saints forged ahead win­ning away at third placed Big­gar by a nar­row three points.This week’s vis­i­tors to Park Farm, Hamil­ton, scored 133 points at home to Aberdeen­shire and they are now third.

BT Na­tional Divi­sionThree: New­ton Ste­wart lost for the first time this sea­son away at Mur­ray­field­Wan­der­ers and drop to fourth in the league, Glas­gow Ac­cies go­ing top win­ning at Perthshire.

BTWest One: Kil­marnock move up to sec­ond be­hind Allan Glens after beat­ing Greenock.

Ste­wartry un­der-18s had no game as Bish­op­ton could not raise a team. Ste­wartry un­der-16s and un­der-14s at An­nan were off as the pitches were wa­ter­logged.

This week the lo­cal derby be­tween eighth place An­nan and ninth placed Ste­wartry is the high­light for the lo­cals in BTWest One.

Both teams are on six points but Ste­wartry have played two games more.
