Plans to take over the running of the Castle Douglas Community Centre received a £9,200 boost this week.
The ma n a g e m e n t committee hope to acquire the facility from the council.
And they’ve been given cash from the Big Lottery’s Awards for All scheme so they can carry out a feasibility study into the viability of the move.
Dumfries and Galloway Third Sector Interface also landed £7,500 to deliver a varied programme of events to trustees and volunteers from across the region.
They were among a number of groups across Scotland to share in £677,936 of Lottery cash.
An Awa rds for All spokesman said: “This funding will help a range of arts, sports and community groups from across Scotland to bring their projects ideas to life.”
South of Scotland MSP Colin Smyth added: “This funding is a real boost for local groups in the area.
“Lottery funding can be vital to organisations and allow them to carry out some hugely important work within our communities.
“I welcome the news that the National Lottery sees the value these organisations play within the area and look forward to seeing what I am sure will be some fantastic outcomes for all.”
