Re­mem­brance gar­den es­tab­lished

The Cas­tle Dou­glas branch of the Royal Bri­tish Le­gion Scot­land have set up a re­mem­brance gar­den in the grounds of the town li­brary ahead of Re­mem­brance Sun­day.

Any­one wish­ing to put a cross in the gar­den in mem­ory of a loved one or friend is wel­come to do so. Crosses are avail­able in the li­brary where there will be a do­na­tion tin for con­tri­bu­tions to­wards this year’s poppy ap­peal. The crosses will then be re­lo­cated to the war memo­rial at the round­about.

The branch has or­gan­ised a two minute si­lence at the memo­rial for 11am on Satur­day, Novem­ber 11.

On Re­mem­brance Sun­day there will be a ser­vice at the memo­rial at 10.45am with a two minute si­lence at 11am. At 11.30am there will be a fes­ti­val of re­mem­brance at Cas­tle Dou­glas Parish Church on Queen Street. The branch AGM will be in the le­gion club room at 7.30pm on Thurs­day, Novem­ber 16.
