Remembrance garden established
The Castle Douglas branch of the Royal British Legion Scotland have set up a remembrance garden in the grounds of the town library ahead of Remembrance Sunday.
Anyone wishing to put a cross in the garden in memory of a loved one or friend is welcome to do so. Crosses are available in the library where there will be a donation tin for contributions towards this year’s poppy appeal. The crosses will then be relocated to the war memorial at the roundabout.
The branch has organised a two minute silence at the memorial for 11am on Saturday, November 11.
On Remembrance Sunday there will be a service at the memorial at 10.45am with a two minute silence at 11am. At 11.30am there will be a festival of remembrance at Castle Douglas Parish Church on Queen Street. The branch AGM will be in the legion club room at 7.30pm on Thursday, November 16.
