Solway Car Club rounded off their autotest season recently with two different tar tests at Dundrennan.
The conditions in the first test were wet and slipping, making it very tricky for the 11 competitors.
In class one, Chris Adams was quick out of the blocks in the family shared Punto, taking fastest times in the first three tests with Rab Henderson in the MG close on his heels from Thomas McCarney in the Nissan.
New member Ron Orr was having his first taste of tar testing with a run in Thomas’ Nissan and was soon getting some good times in and enjoying every minute.
With tests getting quicker, the early leader Chris held on to take the win from Rab then Thomas.
In class four Jack Houston was all on his own in the RWD Mazda with the conditions making it quite a handful but good to watch.
First senior was Harry Adams in the Punto.
The sun shone for the 10 competitors on the second set of tests.
Again, it was a mainly class one entry but a very close battle ensued.
Keith Riddick in the Rover set the pace at the start with Rab Henderson’s MG, Richard Dickson’s Citroen and Thomas McCarney in the Nissan all chasing hard close behind and swapping fastest times. However, it was Thomas with three very quick tests to finish on top spot from Keith just a few seconds behind, followed by Richard.
In class two, young Scott Gourlay, in only his second tar test, was getting the hang of things in the Focus with some respectful times.
First lady was Nancy Dickson in the family shared new Citroen.
The club would like to thank the organisers, timing and results teams.
