Tackling the peaks
Firefighters and mountain rescuers will join forces to take on the first Galloway Three Peaks Challenge for charity on Saturday,
The event will begin at 8.30am with an ascent of the Merrick at 843m before moving on to Cairnsmore of Fleet at 711m.
The final leg will see team members scale Criffel at 569m, with the target being to finish the challenge within 24 hours.
Galloway Mountain Rescue Team members will be competing in aid of the Teenage Cancer Trust.
One of the GMRT’s members has a young daughter who has been fighting cancer for well over a year and the team wanted to do something to help those who have been supporting her.
Fire service personnel will be raising funds for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Family Support Trust.
Anyone who would like to sponsor the GMRT in their efforts is asked to contact any team member.
The fire service team can be sponsored through any local fire station or any of the personnel who are involved.
