Schools rugby festival
Talented youngsters showed off their skills as Stewartry Rugby Club hosted its annual 10-a-side tournament.
The event saw teams from seven schools across the region, Stranraer, Douglas Ewart, Kirkcudbright, Castle Douglas, Dalbeattie, Annan and Lockerbie, take part in 10 minute games throughout the day to increase their interest in rugby and keeping an active lifestyle.
The event acts as the traditional finale to the rugby season, with both boys and girls teams taking part in hard-fought competition across the day.
John Muir, development officer at Stewartry Rugby Club, said: “The numbers of schools playing rugby in Dumfries and Galloway is on the up and this event really finishes off the rugby season for everyone involved.
“It’s designed as more of a development event than a competitive thing with everybody playing everybody just to get them enjoying playing rugby.
“There was a slight dip in the numbers this year because of school trips being organised beforehand but we still had teams from across the region from Stranraer to Annan and the event also helps the schools to see who is going to be in their teams for next year in each of the different age groups, as well as their girls teams.”
