Prime lambs in de­mand

Wal­lets Marts Cas­tle Dou­glas Lim­ited had for­ward 410 prime and cast sheep on Tues­day.

126 prime lambs sold to av­er­age 275.71ppk. All classes were sharper and well short of buy­ers re­quire­ments and more well fleshed lambs are re­quired each week.

Top to­day was £134 for heavy Tex­els from Messrs Evans, Halmyre, Gelston, with top per kilo for an out­stand­ing pen of ex­port weight Texel lambs at 287.5 from Messrs Duf­fin, West Brock­loch, May­bole.

A better show of 119 hoggs sold to av­er­age 200.41ppk sell­ing to £105 (x2) for heavy Tex­els from Messrs MacTag­gart, Tar­bre­och, Kirk­patrick Durham and to 226.6 for light­weight cheviots from RKG Farms, Ire­land­ton.

165 cast sheep of all classes sold sharper to a top of £145 for Suf­folks from Mossend, Rhone­house.
