When it comes to looking after dogs, Gavin Brough and Lisa Murray, know more than a thing or two about it.

They are boxer and whippet breeders and show exhibitors in Scotland.

And Lisa has been involved in raising dogs from the age of 12.

So it seemed natural that the two animal lovers would start their own kennel and cattery business in Dalbeattie.

And one of the services they have introduced to the area is doggy day care.

Here, you can leave your dog while you go to work and let the team look after your beloved pet.

Here are some reasons why doggy day care is such a good idea for dog owners.

1. Interaction – In the care of trained dog personnel, dogs are able to continue interacting with people while their owner is away. Having the opportunity to be in constant contact with people is a great benefit of doggy daycare.

2. Friends for Life – Unique to doggy daycare, is the ability for dogs to meet and play with other pets. This can be beneficial to young dogs as it will allow them to develop their social skills. Also, since dogs are social animals by nature, they will love having the opportunity to play with other dogs.

3. Exercise – The centre has activities scheduled throughout the day that will help keep your dog stimulated. There are also rest times built into each day to ensure that your dog regains his/ her energy.

4. Peace of mind – Most importantly, doggy daycare can give you peace of mind knowing that your dog is well cared for during your working hours. From interaction with people to socialising with other dogs, you can be sure that there is never a dull moment for your lovable pup.

The boarding kennel boasts 12 heated dog kennels and eight cabins for cats.

The kennels also has inside and outside runs giving your pet space to enjoy a play during their stay at Crinan.

The re-opening of the kennels and cattery will take place on August 11 when you can pop along and meet Gavin and Lisa and hear about all the services on offer.

Crinan Kennels and Cattery is currently taking bookings for dogs and cats and for doggy day care.
