Choral to celebrate winter
Rehearsals have begun for Kirkcudbright Choral Society’s winter concert.
The group meets under the expertise of musical director Michael Appleford.
This year’s concert will take place on Saturday, December 1, in the Cochran Hall, Kirkcudbright Academy, and will feature a varied selection of pieces that reflect the winter season, advent and the end of the Great War.
Composers such as Dan Forrest and Ola Gjeilo, whose compositions have thrilled local audiences in recent years, will again be represented, together with works by musicians new to the choir.
Tribute will be paid to those who fell serving their country with Ralph Vaughan Williams’ Dona Nobis Pacem, an exquisite piece for both choir and soloists.
