Workshops fun

Reptiles, rodents and spiders were among the animals on display at a fun educational workshop in Kirkcudbright.

Two well-attended Zoolab sessions in the Tolbooth Arts Centre on Tuesday saw children learn about the lives and habitats of different animals and insects.

Creatures brought by Zoolab ranger Tristan Bruce included a snake, tortoise, tarantula, giant centipede and cockroach.

Museum attendant Katie Halliday said: “These are always popular workshops with the children. They are a great opportunity for the kids to get hands-on with the animals.

“It’s exciting as well because they get to touch different creatures and learn how to handle them. Both sessions were sold-out and enjoyed by both the kids and adults.”
