Seven in hospi­tal af­ter A75 crash

Seven peo­ple were taken to hospi­tal af­ter a smash on the A75 on Sun­day.

The road was closed for al­most three hours fol­low­ing the ac­ci­dent near Auchen­larie Hol­i­day Park at Gate­house.

The crash in­volved a Honda CRV, driven by an 83-year-old Belfast man, a Land Rover Free­lander, driven by a 57-year-old woman from Whithorn, and a Kia Rio pulling a car­a­van which was driven by a 52-year-old man from Rochdale.

The three ve­hi­cles were dam­aged and the three driv­ers, as well as four pas­sen­gers, were taken to Dum­fries and Gal­loway Royal In­fir­mary with cuts and bruis­ing.

A fe­male pas­sen­ger from the land Rover, as well as the driver of the Kia, were kept in overnight.

The road was shut at 1.50pm and re-opened at 4.30pm.
