Ac­cor­dion club had fine night

Cas­tle Dou­glas Ac­cor­dion and Fid­dle Club met in Springholm Me­mo­rial Hall.

There were slightly fewer peo­ple than usual but it was still a good at­mos­phere and an en­joy­able evening.

Lo­cal play­ers on ac­cor­dion were Kenny Jack­son, Stewart Walker, Alan Pater­son and Dougie Radley, who also manned the door.

It was a de­light to see a young lad, Stewart, playing and it is hoped he will con­tinue to come to the club.

Other play­ers were Ge­orge Shanks on mouthie and spoons, John Cowan and Robert Dal­gliesh on fid­dle, Gra­ham Woods on drums and Pat Clark on key­board pro­vided the back­ing group.

The guest artists were Lind­say Weir on ac­cor­dion and Colvin Garvin on drums. They played a se­lec­tion of reels, jigs, waltzes and even a well known song from one of Verdi’s op­eras.

The next meet­ing will be on Tues­day, Novem­ber 20, at the new venue – Th­reave Rovers FC, Black­park Road, Cas­tle Dou­glas, DG7 1DJ. The guest will be Mary Mann.
