Accordion club had fine night
Castle Douglas Accordion and Fiddle Club met in Springholm Memorial Hall.
There were slightly fewer people than usual but it was still a good atmosphere and an enjoyable evening.
Local players on accordion were Kenny Jackson, Stewart Walker, Alan Paterson and Dougie Radley, who also manned the door.
It was a delight to see a young lad, Stewart, playing and it is hoped he will continue to come to the club.
Other players were George Shanks on mouthie and spoons, John Cowan and Robert Dalgliesh on fiddle, Graham Woods on drums and Pat Clark on keyboard provided the backing group.
The guest artists were Lindsay Weir on accordion and Colvin Garvin on drums. They played a selection of reels, jigs, waltzes and even a well known song from one of Verdi’s operas.
The next meeting will be on Tuesday, November 20, at the new venue – Threave Rovers FC, Blackpark Road, Castle Douglas, DG7 1DJ. The guest will be Mary Mann.
