Dig into history
Volunteers are being invited to join archaeologists for a dig at a site near Castle Douglas.
Excavations on Port Hill, across the Dee from Threave Castle, will take place tomorrow and Saturday.
Archaeological works will involve digging test pits to look for artefacts and other traces of possible camps.
Parking is available at the main car park for Threave Castle. Directions to the dig site will be signposted. Volunteers should take waterproof clothes and a packed lunch. Book online at: https://www.nts.org.uk/ visit/places/threave-garden/ events or in the shop at Threave Visitor Centre.
