Ewes die af­ter stray dog at­tack

Two ewes died as a re­sult of be­ing at­tacked by a stray dog near Cree­town.

The shock­ing in­ci­dent hap­pened in a field be­tween Cas­tle Cary Car­a­van Park and the old jetty at Carsluith on the evening of June 29.

The sheep owner found the dog – a

Ger­man Shep­hard cross with no col­lar – at­tack­ing one of his dogs at around 8pm. The fol­low­ing day he dis­cov­ered an­other had been at­tacked.

A Po­lice Scot­land spokesman said: “Please re­mem­ber to lead up your dog when you are walk­ing near fields con­tain­ing live­stock. It is a crim­i­nal of­fence to al­low your dog to chase or at­tack live­stock.

“If you saw any­thing or have any in­for­ma­tion that may as­sist po­lice with their en­quiries, please phone us on 101 and quote Ref 3694 of June 29.”
