It’s been one in, one out for Abbey Vale this week.
Michael Swan has signed for the Maryfield Park side after leaving Upper Annandale, while Dylan Cairnie has moved to join Lowland League side Gretna 2008.
Vale co-manager Alllan Clark said:“He’s (Swan) been at Uppers for years but it became apparent that he wasn’t going to sign for them this year so we’ve brought him in.
“With Dylan going to Gretna it softens the blow a bit. They both play the same position but at the same time we’ve got two or three boys who can play that position so it gives us competition.
“I’m meeting another player this week and if he signs I think that will be us. If something comes along we’d take a look but we won’t be actively looking.”
Vale have also made some additions to the coaching staff as they continue their preparations for the new South of Scotland League season.
Clark added:“Davy Kennedy isn’t signed as a player but he’s joining the coaching team. He’s going to be taking training and he should be a good addition.
“We’ve also brought in Adam Anderson, who was the goalie coach at Nithsdale, and that should make a big difference to the goalkeepers.”
